ActionAid seeks to recruit a dynamic and innovative professional who will take up the position of Community Development Facilitator; to implement programmes designed to benefit the community in Nyarongi

Community Development Facilitator – Nyarongi LRP


This position is based in Nyarongi division in Ndhiwa district, Homabay County. Reporting to the Manager- Nyarongi LRP, the Community Development Facilitator is responsible for facilitating grassroots development and community mobilization at the Local Rights Programme Area; the incumbent will be responsible for and not limited to;
  • Facilitate grass root development by mobilizing the community in the Local Rights Program;
  • Build strong community based organizations at the grass root  to manage the implementation of their identified needs;
  • Support the programme officer to ensure that all child sponsorship requirements are met  as per the set guidelines;
  • Prepare community development reports and share with the Local Rights Program  manager;
  • Participate in plans and budget preparation for the LRP;
  • Attend relevant community and stakeholders meeting;
  • Organize trainings and vetting of community funding proposals;
  • Documentation of success stories and sharing of lessons learnt to promote best practices;
  • Identification, assessment and documentation of community groups and partners support needs;
  • Follow up on grants given to communities for accounting;
  • Preparation of concept notes and proposals for fund raisings;
  • Facilitate use of PRA tools in the Local Rights Program  including PRRPs;
  • Participate in pursuing the implementation of the Country Strategy Paper in the LRP;
Profile
Our preferred candidate will have:
  • A minimum of a Degree in Development studies/ Social Sciences or it’s equivalent from a recognized university; 
  • Served as Community Development Facilitator or a comparable position with similar responsibilities in like organizations for a minimum period of three (3) years; 
  • and in-depth understanding of programming issues, resource mobilization including proposal development, donor reporting and managing donor relations; and 
  • Is registered with the Kenya Institute of Social Work.
You must be willing to reside in the Local Rights Programme area.
