Plan is an international, humanitarian, child-centred development organisation which works in over 60 countries to realise its vision of a world where all children realise their potential in societies that respect rights and dignities.
Plan Regional Office for
Eastern and Southern Africa (RESA) invites tenders from qualified
research firms for consultancy services to conduct a study to
investigate the situation of girls in disasters, within four countries
namely; Ethiopia, South Sudan, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
The study will provide essential advocacy information for the writing of Year 2013 Because I Am A Girl – Africa Report.
Qualifications and Technical Expertise
The study implementation
requires the study partners (or consulting firm) to have partners and/or
consultants in the four countries and can carry out simultaneous data
collection.
The firm should provide 2-3 senior researchers who need to comply with the following profile:
- Masters degree and/or proven expertise in disasters and child rights programming with a specific focus on protection, education, health and gender
- At least 8 years of research experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and a solid understanding on child rights and child development issues in Africa;
- Vast experience in working in disasters (including conflict, drought, food crises, and floods) and with youth/children and adults at community level and a commitment to child and youth participation in programming;
- Solid experience in participatory methodologies and facilitation, in research and development;
- A track record of published research work in the areas of education, gender or participatory child protection; and disasters
- Excellent scientific writing skills in both French and English.
Submission of Proposals
Interested consulting
firms should prepare and submit by 2nd November 2012, Expressions of
interested detailing technical and financial proposal including:
- a description of the proposed research methodology
- a proposed work calendar; for research process and reporting concluded by end of February 2013
- a detailed budget outline
- Curriculum Vitae of Key consultants/researchers proposed for the research study
- Two references of previous clients
