The Standard Group Chief Accountant, Treasury Manager and Financial Accountant Jobs in Kenya


The Standard Group comprises, the Standard newspapers, KTN, Radio Maisha, PDS, Standard Digital and Think Outdoor Services. 
The group is in the processes of strengthening its management and leadership team by recruiting highly motivated, qualified, experienced and competent, individuals to the following positions.
 
Chief Accountant
 
Working closely with the business Leadership, functional heads, and other stakeholders the job holder will manage and  coordinate the financial and accounting affairs of the Group including but not limited to the treasury function
 
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Risk management and compliance with both statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Leading in the financial management of the business, treasury function as well as in determining appropriate business financing options
  • Providing leadership in the performance of the accounting and financial reporting function
  • Overall responsibility in the budgetary, cost management and financial control of the business
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and plans for the Group including payback and return on investment.
  • Establish and manage good working relations with financial institutions and banks in order to obtain appropriate facilities at competitive rates
  • Report, analyze and ensure integrity in all financial information
Qualification, Skills and Competencies
  • University degree such as B.Com (Accounting), Business Administration OR equivalent, an MBA- Finance is desirable.
  • Full professional accounting qualification: CPA (K), ACCA, ACA.
  • Minimum of 8 years Finance management experience.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in business planning and management
  • Proven knowledge and experience in Companies Act and statutory tax regulations
  • Experience and ability in staff management and development
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at Board level
  • High degree of maturity, integrity and professionalism.
Treasury Manager
 
Working under the guidance of the Chief Accountant the job holder will be accountable for management and coordination of the Treasury function and affairs of the Group with the ultimate goal of maximizing liquidity, and mitigating operational, financial and reputation risk.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Realigning the treasury functions to the overall Group strategic plan.
  • Setting up of sound internal control systems
  • Prudent working capital management
  • Billing and credit control systems
  • Ensure integrity of the Group petty cash management process.
  • Manage the Payroll process, ensure controls, reviews and provide assurance that all changes are valid and authorized.
Qualification and Skills
  • University degree such as B.Com (Accounting or Finance) an MBA is desirable.
  • Full professional accounting qualification: CPA (K)
  • Minimum of 5 years Finance management experience in a commercial organization
  • Proven knowledge and experience in Companies Act and statutory tax regulations
  • Proven leadership skills
Financial Accountant
 
Working under the guidance of the Chief Accountant the job holder will be accountable for management of the accounting systems and creating special reports to support management decisions.
 
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Accounting and Financial Reporting.
  • Risk management and compliance with both statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring of internal control and system developments
  • Preparation of management reports and Financial statements in accordance to IFRS
  • Monthly preparation of audit file and liaise with internal and external auditors on audits
Qualification and Skills
  • University degree such as BCom (Accounting), Business Administration OR equivalent,
  • Professional accounting qualification: CPA (K), ACCA, ACA.
  • Minimum of 3 years Finance management experience in a commercial organization
  • Good knowledge of tax and IFRS
