FMCG Co. National Sales Manager Job in Kenya


National Sales Manager

A leading FMCG Company is seeking to recruit a qualified, competent and experienced candidate to fill the position of National Sales Manager. S/he will report to the Managing Director.

The primary purpose of the job is to lead and manage a sales team working across multiple channels to achieve the sales & commercial strategies while supporting the achievement of the organization’s profit objectives as well as develop & grow the capabilities of the sales team.

This position entails
  • Development of a sales plan, which includes sales goals, budget, allocation of resources and servicing of market. The sales plan should specify the market, channels, product range and new products.
  • Lead, direct and monitor the sales team in the implementation of the sales plan to meet company objectives.
  • Ensure correct stock levels of manufactured and imported products are maintained through proper forecasting and ordering, at company, distributor and trade levels, with the aim of minimizing any stock outs.
  • Develop distribution network(s) to its full potential by recruiting, training and evaluating distributor(s) performance.
  • Develop and manage a competent sales organization through recruitment, training, performance management and succession planning to support sales objectives.
  • Develop and issue sound policies and procedures for sales operations.
  • Responsible for sales forecasting.
  • Report monthly trends and activities related to sales, competition, pricing as well as new market/product opportunities, effectiveness of marketing programs and recommending changes.
  • Participate in development of marketing strategies.
  • Ensure proper communication of promotional activities to distributor(s) and trade.
  • Ensure proper merchandising, product display, POS usage, promotional activities to support marketing strategies.
  • Responsible for structured sales compensation plans for sales team & distributors and overseeing its implementation.

The right candidate must have
  • MBA, with a bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Marketing.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a competitive environment, and at least 3 years in a management position.
  • FMCG experience will be an added advantage.

  • Will be required to travel regularly.
