Managing Director Job in Kenya

Our client, a private sector infrastructure development Company wishes to recruit a Managing Director for its new office to be opened in Nairobi to manage and contribute to the development of a major infrastructure project.

The candidate must have technical experience, ideally obtained with a major multinational organization.

Job Profile
  • Lead, oversee and participate in activities associated with the development of an infrastructure project in Kenya, starting from its current status in mid-stage development through construction to commercial operations.
  • Providing strategic leadership for the Company to ensure overall objectives are achieved, as well as undertaking development activities, interfacing with strategic partners.
  • Overseeing consultants and building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including government officials.
  • Work closely with company staff in implementing the overall objectives and developing the project.
  • Work closely with project partners and with consultants and technical advisors retained by the Company to develop the Project.
  • Collaborate and liaise with partners, procurement contractors, government ministries and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage issues, analyze problems and identify and implement solutions as they arise.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) of the US, the UK anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, and all other applicable laws, including laws in Kenya.
Person Profile
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and executive level project management experience.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in infrastructure operations and management, preferably in energy or a related industry, 3 years of which were at the executive management level.
  • High energy, and seasoned in leadership and management roles, with a proven track record in the oversight of consultants, procurement contractors and administration.
  • An exceptional ability to take initiative, lead, plan, make decisions and negotiate various demands from both the public and private sector is required.
