Reinsurance and Underwriting Assistant - Life

Reporting to the Asst. Manager Group Life Underwriting & Reinsurance and Supervisor - Ordinary Life the incumbent will be required to correctly cede Individual Life Reinsurance cession at the end of every quarter and also to evaluate risks correctly and ensure that the correct amount of Reinsurance premium (will be) paid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures that all policies that require reinsurance have been advised to the Reinsurer on time.
  • Ensure that all reinsurance processes are timely done at the end of every quarter. Initiate end of the year profit commission calculations.
  • Liaise with the Reinsurer on quarterly returns and ensure the quarterly accounts are correctly done.
  • Underwrites risks within own authority online and prepares assessment of cases falling above own authority for approval by the supervisor.
  • Ensures that processing of applications and issuance of policy documents is done without delay and in consistent with company policies and standards.
  • Ensure franking machines are loaded and working properly in all agencies.
  • Ensure medicals in the system are indexed and easily linked to the related applications.
  • Online Issuance of ordinary life policies.
  • Handles customer complaints and advice decisions regarding policy issues and other related matters.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience
  • A degree from recognized university – Actuarial science is an added advantage
  • Progress in professional studies such as actuarial qualification, ACII/LOMA would be desirable
  • Computer knowledge – MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS- Access
  • Good communications skills
