Senior Compliance Officer Job in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM)

Position Responsibilities:
 
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Compliance Officer oversees the organization’s Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. 

This position ensures the Board of Directors, management, and employees fully comply with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies and that behavior in the organization meets the organization’s Standards of Conduct. The Senior Compliance Officer acts as staff to the CEO and Board of Directors by monitoring and reporting results of the compliance/ethics efforts of the company.

This position also performs the following responsibilities:
  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct; manages day-to-day operation of the Program;
  • Develops and periodically reviews and updates Standards of Conduct;
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution; consults with ASLM attorney and/or Legal Advisor as needed to resolve difficult and complex issues;
  • Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures; develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations;
  • Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are appropriately evaluated, investigated and or; resolved;
  • Works with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
 
Minimum Education & Experience:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in a healthcare organization, included demonstrated periods of leadership; familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and human resource procedures and regulations is required
